This past week, CD Projekt Red announced that its highly-anticipated open world RPGCyberpunk 2077had been delayed yet again, despite technically finishing development and “going gold.” While fans now have to wait until December to get their hands on one of the year’s most-anticipated games, it’s not like November 2020 is suddenly lacking. On the contrary, there are a dizzying number of new video game releases coming next month, including some of the biggest titles of the year.
November 2020 will kick off the next generation of gaming consoles, with the Xbox Series X launching on November 10 andSony’s PlayStation 5hitting store shelves on November 12. As is typical of new console launches, each system is bringing with it a slew of game releases. Many of these titles are cross-generational games, but some are next-gen exclusives. And even the cross-generational titles are coming with some major upgrades, supporting higher resolution and frame rates.

With that in mind, here are the 12 biggest new game releases of November 2020.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (November 10)
Launching alongside the Xbox Series X on November 10 isAssassin’s Creed Valhalla, the next game in Ubisoft’s long-running open world franchise. InAssassin’s Creed Valhalla, players are able to live out a viking fantasy, taking on the role ofmale or female Eivoras they raid kingdoms and build their settlement.Assassin’s Creed Valhallais taking its cues fromAssassin’s Creed Odysseyby continuing with the RPG-style path the series has been going down, but it will also marry those elements with some aspects of the older games in the series, like with the returning social stealth feature. TheAssassin’s Creedseries has gotten back on track with the most recent entries, andValhallalooks as though it will carry that momentum into the next generation of gaming consoles.
Assassin’s Creed Valhallawill be available for PC, PS4, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on November 10, with the PS5 version launching November 12.
Destiny 2: Beyond Light (November 10)
Destiny 2will soon be changing forever. On November 10, Bungie is launching the ambitiousBeyond Lightexpansion for the game, which will shuffle some of its lesser-used content into the “vault,” while bringing back some content from the originalDestiny. TheBeyond Lightexpansion forDestiny 2will also feature a brand new storyline for fans of the looter-shooter to complete, and will also introduce thenew Stasis element, which should shake things up quite a bit.
Destiny 2: Beyond Lightwill be available for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One on November 10, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions launching December 8.
Yakuza: Like A Dragon (November 10)
In the past, theYakuzaseries has been closely tied to the PlayStation brand, but that’s changed recently. Microsoft has made a big push forYakuza, adding multiple games in the series to its Xbox Game Pass service, and securing timed-exclusivity for the next-generation version ofYakuza: Like A Dragon.Yakuza: Like A Dragonis a bizarre new takeon theYakuzafranchise, retaining the open world gameplay of the other games, but utilizing a turn-based combat system like classic JRPGs.Yakuza: Like A Dragonis certainly one of the strangest games in the Xbox Series X launch lineup, but that could be what helps it stand apart from the pack.

Demon’s Souls (November 12)
The centerpiece of the PlayStation 5 launch lineup is theDemon’s Soulsremakefrom Bluepoint Games. While it may not feature much in the way of new content, theDemon’s Soulsremake has extremely impressive graphics, and is one of the best examples of the PS5’s sheer power. It should greatly appeal to From Software fans, and if Bluepoint’s work on past remasters and remakes are any indication, it should more than do the original game justice. A likely must-have for PS5 early adopters, theDemon’s Soulsremake is set to be the biggest PS5 exclusive game come launch day on November 12.

Godfall (November 12)
One of the first games ever revealed for the PlayStation 5 wasGodfall, a so-called looter-slasher that looks to combine the gameplay from loot-based games with melee combat.Godfallleverages the PlayStation 5’s unique capabilities in important ways, using the DualSense controller to make players more fully-immersed in the action, while featuring some cutting-edge graphics. While it will also be available on PC,Godfallis a PS5 console-exclusive, and that distinction may make it one of the more popular games at launch.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure (November 12)
Many of the games in the PS5 launch lineup are actually cross-generational titles that are also coming to the PlayStation 4. This includesSackboy: A Big Adventure, thelatest entry in the critically-acclaimedLittleBigPlanetseries.Sackboy: A Big Adventureis a departure from previous games in the series, instead focusing on 3D platforming gameplay in a manner not unlikeSuper Mario 3D World.Sackboy: A Big Adventurehas 4-player co-op and looks like it will greatly appeal to fans of the platforming genre when it launches in a couple of weeks time.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales (November 12)
Another big cross-generational game for the PS5 launch lineup isSpider-Man: Miles Moralesfrom Insomniac Games. While fans shouldn’t expect an adventure on the scale ofMarvel’s Spider-Manfrom 2018,Spider-Man: Miles Moraleswill still be an important entry in the series. The game will continue the story of the 2018Spider-Mangame, while featuring a slew of brand new gameplay features, ray-tracing graphics, and more. Those willing to fork over the extra cash for the Ultimate Edition of the game will also be able to get their hands onMarvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, which boasts anew face model for Peter Parker, improved graphics, and some new trophies to unlock.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (November 13)
Every year brings with it a newCall of Dutygame, but this year’sCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Waris especially significant.Call of Duty: Modern Warfarewas a major return to form for the franchise, breaking sales records and kicking off the mega-popularWarzonebattle royale.Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warhas the tough task of following up that game, but it looks to do so with a wealth of content including a campaign mode, multiplayer, and thereturn of Zombies. With both Raven Software and Treyarch at the helm,Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warlooks to make the franchise’s next-gen debut in style, and it will be exciting to see if they can pull it off.

Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory (November 13)
Fans may still have some time to wait before they will get to playKingdom Hearts 4, but they can check outKingdom Hearts: Melody of Memoryin the meantime. A music/rhythm game,Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memorywill serve as a recap for theKingdom Heartsfranchise story so far, while also featuring somenew story content focused on Kairi.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity (November 20)
Nintendo likes to release a big holiday game every November, and 2020 is no different. At the end of the month, Nintendo fans can look forward toHyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, a sequel toHyrule Warriorsthat also serves as aprequel toBreath of the Wild. WithAge of Calamityserving an important role in theLegend of Zeldaseries timeline and actually being canon to the main games, it’s profile is much higher than the previous game.The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildfans can try theHyrule Warriors: Age of Calamitydemo to tide them over until the game’s launch.

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands (November 23)
Some big changes are coming to Blizzard’s MMORPGWorld of Warcraftwith theShadowlandsexpansion. Originally due for release earlier this year,World of Warcraft: Shadowlandswas delayed to November 23, and while fans have had to wait a bit longer than expected, hopefully it lives up to expectations.
