Is Antony Starr Playing Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1?

This detail aboutHomelander’s portrayal inMortal Kombat 1was confirmed on Instagram, where user vaguelyokay asked the actor if he was voicing the character inMK1. Antony Starr replied to this query with a simple “nope,” which disappointed a lot of fans on social media. Many fans were upset at NetherRealm Studios' decision to not have Starr reprise his role as Homelander, considering that he is already lending his likeness for the character’s appearance, as seen in the initial DLC reveal trailer.

This isn’t the first time that NetherRealm Studios has done this, as seen with one ofMortal Kombat 11’s guest characters, The Terminator. Arnold Schwarzenegger was scanned to be the character’s facial model but didn’t voice the T-800 Terminator in-game. Instead, Chris Cox was selected as the voice of the Terminator, who was chosen personally by Schwarzenegger himself as well. This is likely the same case for Homelander’s appearance inMortal Kombat 1.

Omni-Man’s guest appearance set the bar high forMortal Kombat 1, meaning Homelander will be a tough act to follow as well. Regardless, fans shouldn’t expect to hear Antony Starr’s voice inMortal Kombat 1. Starr doesn’t mention who will be playing Homelander in the fighting game, but whoever his replacement is will also have an uphill battle to meet fan expectations.
