Summary
In yet another example demonstrating the character customization capabilities ofBaldur’s Gate 3, one player recreated the Dragon from theShrekfranchise in Larian’s newest RPG. Their achievement adds to the already lengthy list ofunique characters that theBaldur’s Gate 3fandom has been designingsince the game’s August 3 launch.
Players who aren’t keen on using one ofBaldur’s Gate 3Origin charactersas their protagonist also have the choice of creating one from scratch when starting a new campaign. And though some of the most hardcore fans are still hoping that Larian will introduce even more granular customization options to the game, its existing character creation capabilities are already plenty powerful.

The latest testament to this feature came from Reddit user scary__snek, who managed a fairly faithful recreation of the Dragon fromShrek. They did so by choosing the Dragonborn race for their protagonist, then opting for the Red Dragonborn subrace. After some fiddling with the skin color and makeup options, they settled on a pinkish shade of red matching theShrekcharacter’s scales, in addition to recreating her signature fluorescent green eyes. And while theBaldur’s Gate 3player didn’t provide a detailed breakdown of their design process, the end result of their efforts suggests they picked either the Lapis Studmuffin or Midnight Tears piercing style found under the Body Art section of the Dragonborn appearance screen.
This peculiar hero is not the first example of the game’s fandom using the Dragonborn race to recreate some popular characters from other media. Shortly after the RPG hit store shelves, one player managed to design aBaldur’s Gate 3protagonist inspired by Donatello fromTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesafter fiddling with the appearance options for the Green Dragonborn subrace.
While some fans might find that the ability to role-play as famous lizards is a reward in and of itself, that’s far from the onlyreason to play a Dragonborn inBaldur’s Gate 3. Since all members of this race get major buffs to Charisma and Strength, they make for extremely capable Bards, Barbarians, Fighters, Monks, Paladins, and Warlocks, all of which are classes that have an inherent focus on those two abilities.
Every Dragonborn subrace also gets its own Breath Weapon, a ranged area-of-effect attack that’s available once per Short or Long Rest and remains useful until the very last boss battle. Finally, the fact that Dragonborn are the least humanoid race inBaldur’s Gate 3means that many NPCs will react much differently to them, allowing for plenty of unique interactions throughout the game’s three-act campaign.
Baldur’s Gate 3is out now for PC. A PS5 version releases on September 6, and an Xbox Series X/S version is also in development.
