Battlefield 2042had an extremely promising reveal. Every trailer was met with increased excitement making it seem likeBattlefield 2042will be a must-buy for all FPS fans. While users had amixed reception to theBattlefield 2042beta, many believed that the issues would be solved in the final release.
That did not turn out to be the case, as fans were left stunned atthe state ofBattlefield 2042on launch. It was released with several problems, including glitches and missing features, and users voiced their opinion by posting negative reviews online. While developer DICE has released several patches, a new clip shows thatBattlefield 2042is still filled with bugs.

Posted on theBattlefield 2042subreddit by user lilcarlohc, the video shows how Takedowns are still not working properly, months after release. In the clip, the player survives a simple Takedown and is seemingly holding an invisible gun. This is not the most unusual aspect of the video, as parts of the player’s body have separated from the rest of the character model. The player is evidently shocked at seeing their torso standing right beside them. Lilcarlohc is then knifed multiple times before the kill is confirmed by a notification.
The comment section is filled with users regretting their purchase, with Monodutch stating thatBattlefield 2042is just a monetization machine. Many are also making fun of the time when EA called scoreboards and voice chat “legacy features”. Fans are naturally angry at how many games continue to get released in an unfinished state.
TheBattlefield 2042player base has been dwindling as a result of these issues and the negative word of mouth. At one point,Battlefield 5had more active players thanBattlefield 2042on Steam. Some fans were not entirely pleased with theBattlefield 5’s launch either, but DICE did manage to make several improvements over the years.
The state ofBattlefield 2042on launch, and the backlash that followed, was one of the biggest news stories of 2021. DICE probably needed a few more months to iron out these issues, but companies rarely push games outside of the lucrative November/December release window.Cyberpunk 2077launched in an arguably worse state, and CD Projekt Red is still releasing patches for the game. Fans can hope that DICE solves all of these issues as soon as possible, in the hope thatBattlefield 2042’s player base becomes healthy again.
