Summary
Forza Motorsportbrings the focus of the series back to on-track racing and includes a wide range of vehicle categoriesfor players to compete in. Cars are arranged into different classes depending on their performance, which is measured by an overall Performance Index (PI), with limits at the upper and lower ends of each category.
The S Class features vehicles in the range of 700-799 PI. Each vehicle is measured across four different performance categories: Speed, Acceleration, Handling, and Braking. Speed and Acceleration will beimportant for race startsand corner exits, particularly when leading to a long straight while Braking and Handling are indicative of how well a vehicle can be controlled on mid-corners and corner entries.
102017 Holden #22 Walkinshaw Performance VF Commodore
Australian-based HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) have a very lengthy roster ofhigh-quality performance carsconsidering their relatively short history. The 2017 Walkinshaw VF Commodore is the fastest and most expensive car ever to be produced “down under.”
The Commodore is relatively well-balanced for the S Class, with its main strength being its5.9 Acceleration. Elsewhere, its5.5 Handling,5.5 Braking, and5.0 Speedmake it an above-average car for the class. Overall, the Commodore has aPI of 785.
91993 Jaguar XJ220S TWR
Britain’s luxury car manufacturer Jaguar might not be known for producing a lot of high-performance track cars, but the XJ220S is most definitely an exception to the rule. Originally specced with a V12 engine, the XJ220S had to downgrade to a V6 due to engineering and emission concerns.
The XJ220S hasa significant straight-line advantageover many of its competitors with a solid rating of7.9 Speed. Exiting corners is also easier than in some other cars with6.4 Acceleration. Elsewhere, the car’s4.5 Handlingand4.2 Brakingaren’t great but are certainly sufficient to keep it on the road. Overall the Jaguar XJ220S TWR has aPI of 786.
82019 McLaren 720S Spider
The McLaren 720S is the predecessor to the 750S and has won many accolades and achievements, including the 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed Hillclimb. The car has also represented the iconic British manufacturer in the 24 Hours of Le Mans from the years 2020-2023.
The car’s main strengths are its7.4 Accelerationand5.9 Speed, which are very handy relative to the competition in the class. With a slightly sub-par4.4 Handlingand4.8 Braking, there is still plenty of room for upgrades and tuning. Overall, the McLaren 720S Spider has aPI of 786.
72002 Ferrari Enzo
The Ferrari Enzo gets its namesake from the founder of theItalian automotive giants, and the car is a fitting tribute to his legacy. Originally only 399 units were produced, with the special 400th car being donated to the Vatican of all places.
The 2002 Ferrari Enzo has impressive on-track performance with7.3 Speedand6.3 Acceleration. With only5.3 Handlingand5.3 Braking, though, this is not a car where massive risks can be taken going into corners. Overall, the car has aPI of 787.
61997 McLaren F1 GT
The McLaren F1 is a staple entrant of GT1 Racing and has amassed 38 wins as well as three Constructor’s Championships in the category to date. Originally designed as a high-end road car, the F1 was later adapted for optimal track performance following the inception of the Global GT Series.
The McLaren F1 has an impressive7.6 Speed, which is higher than average for a GT car, along with a decent5.8 Acceleration. With5.4 Handlingand only5.1 Braking, the car can be a handful in tricky corners or wet conditions. Overall, the McLaren F1 GT has aPI of 787.
51963 Shelby Monaco King Cobra
Arguably one of the most stylish and unique classic cars inForza Motorsportis the Shelby Monaco King Cobra. This vehicle oozesclass and luxury, but many players might be surprised by how good the car’s on-track performance can be in S-Class races.
While the vehicle’s statistics might not seem like much, with6.6 Accelerationand5.7 Handlingbeing the highlights, the Shelby Monaco is relatively well-balanced and has5.4 Speedand5.4 Braking. Overall, the Shelby Monaco King Cobra has aPI of 793.
42013 Ariel Atom 500 V8
British manufacturer Ariel might be one of the lesser-known names onForza Horizon’sroster, but their only featured car, the Ariel Atom 500, is certainly among the best performers in the S Class. Despite being a two-seated open-wheeler, the car is actually road-legal in both the UK and USA.
The Ariel Atom has a frightfully fast7.8 Acceleration, but with5.4 Braking, might be difficult to control without any tuning or upgrades. The car may also be vulnerable to its rivals along straights, with a disappointing3.7 Speedand5.2 Handling. Overall, the Ariel Atom has aPI of 794.
31998 Nissan R390 (GT1)
The Nissan R390 is a purpose-built track car originally made to enter the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race. Several rule changes in the 1999 season meant that Nissan would withdraw from the competition, but the R390 is still a competitive race car in the S Class.
The main strengths of the vehicle are its7.2 Speedand7.2 Acceleration, making it one of the fastest cars in the category at corner exits and along straights. However, with4.8 Handlingand4.5 Braking, the carcan be challengingto control on more complex circuits. Overall, the car has aPI of 796.
21969 Lola #6 Sunoco T70 MkIIIB
The 1969 Lola T70 might be considered an antique of sorts, but that doesn’t take away from its impressive on-track performance. Able to compete with the very best in the S Class, the Lola T70 is famed for a successful race win and one-two finish at the 1969 24 Hours of Daytona.
With7.1 Acceleration, the car is very quick off the line and when exiting corners.6.2 Handlingand5.9 Brakingare also relatively high when compared to other vehicles in the class. The only real weakness of the T70 is its5.2 Speed, but this can be improved slightly withupgrades and tuning. Overall, the car has aPI of 798.
11981 Ford #2 Zakspeed Racing Capri Turbo
The Ford Zakspeed Racing Capri Turbo sits at the pinnacle of the S class and possesses the best overall stock performance. Developed in conjunction with German race car manufacturer Zakspeed, this modified version of the Capri saw much success in the DRM race series.
Despite its most impressive being its6.5 Handlingand6.2 Braking, the car is very balanced for the category and has aSpeed of 4.6with anAcceleration of 5.2, making itsuited to most tracks regardless of their length. Overall, the Zakspeed Capri has aPI of 799, the highest possible rating for the S Class.
