Summary
There are manybright and bold -dere typesin the world of JRPGs, but none are quite as exuberant as the himedere character. Like the other -dere types, the term is derived from the Japanese word “deredere” or lovely-dovey in English; “hime” is the Japanese word for princess.
Any character, mainly female characters, that fall into the himedere category are known for their pride and confidence. They are not afraid to show off their wealth and status to those they consider their social inferiors. But as these notable himedere ladies prove, their personalities are sometimes far more complex than they let on.
5Maribelle (Fire Emblem: Awakening)
The highly-principled daughter of the Duke of Themis, Maribelle is very well known for her expensive tastes and her snobbish and elitist attitude toward those around her. Her first appearance inFire Emblem: Awakeningsees Maribelle berating both her fellow shepherd Vaike for his burping and the newly-recruited Robin for going along with Vaike. Even her future son Brady is not spared from her sharp tongue. Her support conversations with Brady revolve around Maribelle trying to fix his rugged speech patterns, though she ultimately relents after seeing the honest effort Brady had put in for the sake of impressing her.

Beneath what seems to be a disdain for the common folk is actually a strong sense of kindness and a knack for observing talent. The latter can be seen in Maribelle’s support conversations with Robin and Donnel. While it takes her a great amount of time to warm up to most people, Maribelle shows the most kindness towardsher best friend Lissa, to whom she is unflinchingly loyal due to being the only one who was not alienated by her personality. After Grima’s defeat, Maribelle becomes a magistrate to foster equal rights for both nobles and the common folk, thoroughly showing her compassion for her social inferiors despite her sharp tongue.
4Shantotto (Final Fantasy 11)
Though Shantotto’s stature may be small, the same indeed cannot be said for her personality. Never failing to speak in rhyme, a signature trait of the Tarutaru race, Shantotto holds herself in high regard, especially in terms of her magic, which she is always striving to improve. Having been born in a family of skilled mages,Shantotto has a natural inclination toward black magic, sticking with the practice even as major life events, especially her parents' separation, altered her life for the worse. Due to her natural proficiency in black magic, many mages look up to Shantotto as a renowned professor.

Shantotto’s immense pride allows her to be very ruthless in battle, to the point of letting her allies get injured in the process. This is not to say that she is without loyalty, though Shantotto only lends her magic to the causes that pique her interest the most, making herone ofFinal Fantasy’smost fickle black mages. In spite of this, she held Cosmos, the Goddess of Harmony, in high regard during her time in theDissidiaseries. In contrast, many of the other warriors in Cosmos' service were quite put off by her presence, with Tidus even describing Shantotto as having “an aura of something from your nightmares.”
3Fischl (Genshin Impact)
Having been raised on numerous fairy tales and other fantasy stories, Fischl thus adopts the mannerisms of a typical princess. She is formal and poised with everyone she meets and constantly harbors wild delusions about specific events, something that her raven companion Oz always covers for.
Unlike with most himedere characters, Fischl’s mannerisms cause more bafflement among those she meets instead of resentment, something she does not pay too much attention to. But rather than concern herself with the reaction of others, Fischl instead focuses on caring for those who appreciate her, mannerisms and all.
2Tsareena (Pokemon Sun & Moon)
Not all himedere characters are human, and no one quite proves that likethe beautiful Fruit Pokemon Tsareena. Coming from a female-only evolutionary line, Tsareena is known for its powerful kicks, which they will gladly show off against any opponent while letting out a hearty cackle in the process.

Prideful and moral-bound, Tsareena are known to single out any trainer they deem weak. Even then, they are still willing to disobey their Trainer if the two have a clash in morals. Despite their arrogant behavior, however, Tsareena is not without kindness, as it will go to great lengths to protect its pre-evolutions, Steenee and Bounsweet.
1Serra (Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade)
Outspoken and peppy in nature, Serra serves as the main cleric through the duration ofFire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. But even though her healing skills are invaluable, this is offset by her extremely petty and talkative mannerisms, which are a source of irritation for many of her friends and allies.
Alongside her love for hearing herself talk, Serra also prides herself on her beauty. At one point, she even confronts Lucius (whom Serra initially mistakes for a girl) for having similar beauty. But it is near the end of her conversations with Lucius that Serra reveals a surprisingly empathetic side to her as well, as both she and Lucius endured a childhood rife with neglect and torment.
