After the mid-season finale thatBetter Call Sauljust aired for its viewers, it’s hard to see how this show will have a happy ending when it’s all said and done. Especially with all the loose ends they still have to tie up. Nonetheless, it’s never too early for AMC to give viewers a little teaser of what’s to come with one of its hit shows. Even if the teaser barely gives away anything at all.
Shortly after viewers got theirlast episode ofBetter Call Saulbefore the show started its month and a half hiatus, AMC’s YouTube channel released a 30-second teaser of what could potentially come in the last six episodes of the show. The teaser gave away hardly anything visually, but it released some audio of dialogue that one would assume will be featured in one of the show’s last episodes.

This teaser reveals a shotof what looks like the apartment shared by Jimmy McGill and Kim Wexler. However, this shot of their apartment appears in black and white, and no one is in it. As the shot slowly zooms in, we hear audio of Jimmy saying, “So, after all that, a happy ending.” When Jimmy says this, it sounds like he’s not saying this in the form of a question. In fact, it sounds like he’s relieved that there’s a happy ending after all that has seemingly happened.
The real question is, is Jimmy McGill saying this during theBetter Call Saultimeline? Or is Saul Goodman saying this in theBreaking Badtimeline? Or is Gene Takovic saying this post-Breaking Bad? What also remains to be seen regards who Jimmy is talking to. Is he talking to Kim Wexler or is he talking to Mike Ehrmantraut? And what exactly is this happy ending he’s referring to? Is Lalo Salamanca out of their lives for good? Has Jimmy reunited with Kim as Gene Takovic? Perhaps Saul mentions this to Walter White and Jesse Pinkman sometime during theBreaking Baddays.
You have to hand it to the showrunners ofBetter Call Saul. They know how to keep their viewers invested in this show. The promise of a happy ending after all that’s happened to Jimmy/Saul/Gene inBreaking BadandBetter Call Saulwill only strengthen the fans' curiosity about where this show ends. They’ve done a genius job at getting fans to understand why they should tune into this show without giving away any major plotlines. In an online era where fans constantly come up with new theories, teasers like these feed right into that, and it gets them to tune in.
So, all that’s left is,how willBetter Call Saulend? The show’s predecessorBreaking Baddid not have a happy ending, but it didn’t have a downer ending either. It had the quintessential bittersweet ending where, while Walter White may have atoned for his sins as best he could, he still caused irreparable damage to everyone in his life. Jimmy McGill may not have the same ego/demons that Walt did, but there are still questions left unanswered. Whether it’s happy or sad, James Morgan McGill will undoubtedly get the ending that will suit him best. Because, in his own words, “S’all good man!”
Better Call Saulwill resume its final season on AMC on June 20, 2025.
