Call of Duty: Cold Waris currently going through some growing pains. Such a process isn’t unusual for a newly released multiplayer title, but it’s still jarring for some nonetheless. As such, some players have taken to social media to point out elements about the game that have frustrated them since they started playing, such as overpoweredCold Warweapons, unusually slow weapon progression, and general bugs.
Call of Duty: Cold Wardeveloper Treyarch has recently responded to fan criticism, stating it hears it and plans to change things. The developer claims that it will be delivering aCall of Duty: Cold Warupdatesoon. Treyarch’s lead designer, Tony Flame, stated explicitly in a recent tweet that players can expect the update to tackle weapons, Scorestreak, and more come Season 1’s arrival. If the update doesn’t arrive then, then it will arrive sometime sooner.

Flame’s tweet doesn’t specify what exactly Treyarch plans to tweak and fix, but since his tweet was a response to fan feedback, the developer will likely address most of the things fans have pointed out. As it stands, the biggest issues that fans have involve the MP5 submachine gun and snipers in general. Most of theCold Warcommunity think snipers need buffsas their range of fire is “too short” and “comparable to shotguns.” As for the MP5, the consensus is that it’s completely busted and possibly the most overpowered SMG ever.
Call of Duty: Cold WarSeason 1 comes out on December 10, so players will have to wait for a few weeks before seeing any notable changes to the game. Unless, of course, Treyarch manages to put out the new patch early. However, Flame’s tweet also stated that it was too early to confidently go off of the trend data Treyarch is currently getting, which makes sense consideringCall of Duty: Cold Waronly came out two days ago. With that in mind, even if the patch does release early, it’ll still probably be more than a week before it arrives.
Balancing weapons is always fairly tricky, so it’s certainly not guaranteed that the patch will satisfy everyone when it arrives. However, Treyarch seems confident in it. David Vonderhaar, the developer’s design director, responded to the day-one sniper criticism by saying that he wasn’t at all worried about it becauseTreyarch has more experience handlingCall of Dutythan anyone. Hence, he’s sure his team will do the right thing. Hopefully, the patch comes sooner than later, so fans won’t have to wait long to find out.
