Call of Duty: Modern Warfareweapons are the standard forCall of Duty: Warzone.Modern Warfarewas the first game connected toWarzone, meaning its weapons have been around longer and therefore have set something of an expected precedent amongWarzoneplayers. Of course, this precedent includesModern Warfarescopes, which usually glint when they’re 4x zoom or higher. This glint allows those being shot at to see where the fire is coming from and react accordingly.
With that in mind, it’s come as a bit of a surprise to theCall of Dutycommunity to find out thatCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warscopes don’t follow this same rule. As discovered byCall of Duty YouTuberJGOD, someBlack Ops Cold Waroptics don’t glint at all when in use, even if their natural zoom exceeds the usualModern Warfarelimit. In other words, some powerful snipers can have just as powerful scopes without any of the weaknesses that usually come with them.

JGOD tested every optic that came withCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warand found which glint and which don’t, and weirdly enough, his results don’t follow any noticeable pattern likeModern Warfarescopes. As expected, lower magnification optics, such as 2x, 3x, and 4x zoom, don’t glint. However, the SUSAT Multizoom 2x-4x does. The higher zoom scopes like 6x and up usually appear on sniper rifles and always glint, butBlack Ops Cold Waropticsdon’t.
At first glance, these scopes just make it look likeBlack Ops Cold Warweapons inherently function differently fromModern Warfareweapons inCall of Duty: Warzone. But then JGOD gets around to the 2x-10x and the 2x-20x optic for Tactical Rifles, and it becomes clear the scopes are just bugged. Neither of these scopes gives away the shooter’s location through glint, meaning users can snipe from across the map with no problems. It makes weapons like the alreadypowerful DMR 14even stronger for no reason.
Just as JGOD predicts in his video, the use ofBlack Ops Cold Warscopes will likely become the new meta until a fix arrives. They offer far too great of an advantage for players to simply pass them up. When exactly this update will arrive remains a mystery, but if not before the mid-Season 1 update forWarzone, then during. Hopefully, it’ll be the latter, though, as a mid-season update is still a long way off.
