It has recently been confirmed that a newCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2multiplayer map is on the way. Since the game launched back in October of last year, the selection of maps on offer within the game’s multiplayer component has remained a tenuous topic of conversation within the onlineCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2community.An abundance of gamers have spent the past few months voicing their discontent regarding the layouts found in the original lineup of battle environments. The update for Season 2 that went live earlier this week did bring with it a couple of fresh multiplayer maps, however, they were not exactly brand new. One of these mapsallows players to return to the Dome mapfromCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3and the other features the Valderas Museum, which was present in the game’s beta, but missing from the multiplayer suite at launch.RELATED:Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Season 2 Shows Off New Map, DMZ Missions, and MoreCall of Dutyhas now teased the release of a truly fresh 6v6 map coming with Season 2 Reloaded, which is sooner than was originally planned. This is apparently due to the map being ready ahead of schedule and functioning well in playtesting sessions.
A screenshot of the upcoming environment was included in the tweet and seems to show some sort of ski resort. This holiday complex consists of an assortment of multistory buildings which surround a fancy-looking swimming pool in the center. Multiplewaist-high walls can also be seenin the screenshot, which will undoubtedly come in handy as cover from enemy fire during matches.
Judging by the comments responding to the tweet, the general consensus to this news and included screenshot is mostly positive. The majority of folks seem excited just to have a new core environment to fight in, instead ofretreads of older maps. The news that things are running ahead of schedule has also gone down well for the most part, with only a vocal minority seemingly upset by the decision to bring forward the release of this map. This negativity is based on the concern that Season 3 content will be lacking, due to this map being taken out of the subsequent season’s lineup and slotted in here.
On the other hand, many players spent the past few months complaining that Activision has chosen to prioritizenew content forWarzone 2over new multiplayer content. It is possible that Activision feels that the best way to keep its multiplayer-focused fan-base happy is by bringing as much future content forward as possible.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
