Players have been enjoyingDestiny 2’s new Crucible map Multiplex, although part of the fun to be had on this map has come from an unintended bug, rather than appreciation for its flow or design. Specifically, the new map allowed players to mount their Sparrow vehicles and traverse the map at a much faster pace. This isn’t to say that the map itself isn’t enjoyable, but given what it’s turned into,Destiny 2should consider doubling down on what has been making it so enjoyable.
Players ended up having so much fun with the bug in the new Crucible map that Bungie agreed to let it go unfixed for a short time. After all, players can’t use their weapons on vehicles, so riding a Sparrow in Crucible actually puts players at a relative disadvantage. Nevertheless, players have been enjoying the unintended feature and making the most of it while it lasts. Given how famous the bug is, the case can be made that it’s time forDestiny 2to finally bring back theSparrow Racing League, and simultaneously make Sparrows more versatile with some new features.

How Destiny 2 Can Shake Up Sparrow Racing League
Sparrow Racing League was a recurring seasonal event fromthe originalDestinygame, which hasn’t yet been available in the sequel. Regardless, longtime players in the community have been holding out hope that SRL will return to the franchise again at some point. While SRL would be extremely popular if it were to come back even without needing to introduce any new fundamental changes, there’s still plenty thatDestiny 2could do to make it a fresh experience.
One new twist with game-changing implications could be to introduce weapons and abilities to the Sparrow Racing League. Sparrow racing on its own is a fun challenge, although mixing weapons into the activity could potentially giveDestiny 2its own take on aMario Kartstyle of competitive arcade racing.Destiny 2is known for its satisfying gunplay, so it’s arguably a missed opportunity that vehicle combat doesn’t have much of a presence in the game. Whether Sparrows themselves end up getting weapons, or if players could be able to use their equipped loadouts, this kind of activity has a lot of potential.
Destiny 2’s Sparrows Have a Lot of Untapped Potential
As mentioned, using Sparrows in Crucible doesn’t necessarily provide players with an advantage in combat, because while it enables faster movement speed it also leaves players vulnerable and incapable of attacking. Therefore, more of the existingPvP activities inDestiny 2should allow Sparrow use as a standard feature, especially since it’s more fun than it is practical.
On the same note, it’s also time that Sparrows had more meaning and impact on gameplay inDestiny 2. It’s likely thatDestiny 2will never get spaceship combat despitethe Lightfall expansionand other recent trailers making it seem like a possibility, but Sparrow combat is a much more realistic dream. Bringing back SRL, allowing players to use weapons while driving, or both could be great opportunities to give the rare Sparrows inDestiny 2more value.
Some ofDestiny 2’s rarest Sparrows are locked behind RNG activity-completion rewards or specific Triumph challenges, so some of these vehicles can be extremely difficult to obtain. However, once players finally earn these rare Sparrows, they are pretty much the same as other Sparrows that are far easier to get, which can be plenty frustrating. Most of the variety inDestiny 2’s Sparrow vehiclesboils down to unique cosmetic skins and a couple of varying top speeds, and hopefully this will change inDestiny 2’s future. With Multipl
