Destiny 2’s Season of the Haunted had a weird start due to all the secrecy regarding its contents and the trailer dropping earlier than intended, plus some issues Bungie had to take care of on launch to avoid disruptive glitches. Still, once everything settled in and players managed to take a crack at Solar 3.0 and everything story-related, Season of the Haunted started to feel more like the kind of contentDestiny 2fans are expecting by now. TheSolar 3.0 updatedid leave some players wanting more synergistic interactions between classes and Exotics, but overall its additions and changes are starting to get more appreciation.

That’s particularly true forSeason of the Haunted’s seasonal mods, which are quite different from Season of the Risen’s in that they do include powerhouse options that dramatically affect character builds and endgame activities. Among the various additions,Destiny 2players were quick to find out that a specific seasonal mod called Classy Restoration may be too powerful for its own good, so much so that it can turn hard content into something trivial. While this is not the first time seasonal mods do something like this, they were always tied to the way characters could affect enemies, rather than themselves.

Why Powerful Seasonal Mods Can Make or Break Destiny 2’s Meta

Classy Restoration applies a self-healing buff on players who use this mod on Solar subclasses, with the activation criterion being that Classy Restoration only starts working when using a class ability. The self-healing buff applied this way is called Restoration, and it is one of the new keywords for the Solar 3.0 update. In terms of in-game mechanics, it provides uninterruptible, continuous healing that can last up to 11 seconds when using aSolar 3.0 Fragmentcalled Ember of Solace, which increases the duration of both the Radiant buff and Restoration regardless of how they are obtained.

ForDestiny 2fans, this means that using Classy Restoration on their favorite class, while also stacking up to 100 points into the classes' corresponding main stats that affect their class ability regeneration rate, means that this mod’s effect can be applied constantly. Having a semi-permanent buff up in the form of Restoration is incredibly powerful on its own, but what makes Classy Restoration such a great mod is that it comes in a Season where the Resilience stat got a huge boost to its effectiveness. In fact, players have been asking for Resilience buffs for a long time because of how bland its increase to HP is, but now it provides incredible damage mitigation.

Because 100 Resilience now grants 40% damage reduction in PvE, having that defensive boon up at all times while also using Classy Restoration means that any character inDestiny 2can virtually be immortal for over ten seconds at a time. Using a Solar class ability once again after the Restoration buff expires means that players will gain its healing effects for another eleven seconds, repeatedly stacking damage resistance and healing to effectively make even bosses trivial. This is where the mod becomes a double-edged sword, however.

Because the reception of Solar 3.0 subclasses has not been overwhelmingly positive at launch, Classy Restoration was the redeeming factor for many fans playing the newly reworked characters. However,Destiny 2’s seasonal modsare always on a rotation, which means that Classy Restoration will be gone from the game when Season 18 launches. The problem is that some players may end up noticing some issues with Solar 3.0 abilities and kits once this incredible power tool goes away, especially for those who are relying on this mod already when it comes to survivability. Bungie may need to deliver some significant changes to Solar 3.0 to even out balance and challenge inDestiny 2.

Destiny 2is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
