Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s post-launch content hasn’t quite hit the same mark as its base game. Players who purchase theDBZ: Kakarotseason passstill only have vague generalizations about what it’ll contain, and aside from some small content updates, have only received 1 DLC. The second boss battle DLC still remains a mystery, but perhaps that’ll change soon.
Many looked at the time between the launch of the base game and the launch of theBoss Battle DLC with Beerusas a sort of time frame of when to expect the next DLC. That time has come and passed, andDragon Ball Z: Kakarotfans are still unfortunately in the dark. The question becomes why it diverged from this pattern, and there could actually be an explanation. Bandai Namco could be saving a proper reveal for an upcoming event, namely its Play Anime Live event.

DBZ Kakarot and Bandai Namco Play Anime Live Event
First, it’s worth mentioning that thePlay Anime Live eventand Bandai Namco Entertainment’s Fun Live event are not one in the same. The latter will be a multi-day showcase running from July 17 to July 24, featuring games fromSword Art OnlinetoJump Force. It’s unclear what the overall point of the Fun Live even is, but it’s likely meant to just be some games being shown off and played, with the concentration of news coming at the Play Anime Live event.
After all, some dates and schedules for the Fun Live event has been posted (seen above), and it seems like it’s more or less a COVID-19 reach out to enjoy a variety of games. Notably absent is anything and everythingDBZ—there’s noFighterZ, Kakarot, or anything like that. As such, with the focus on Bandai Namco’s Play Anime Live event on July 22nd, it seems likely thatDragon Ball Z: Kakarotwill be featured there instead.
There’s a couple of reason for that. First, the aforementioned absence is strange especially with the heavy anime presence but could easily still be a focus of the upcoming Play Anime Live event. Second, it’s a day set aside for Bandai Namco to make announcements regarding its anime-based games, and while there’s a lot of directions it could go,Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotis its prime produce right now.
This is the good news, assuming that the original DLC did establish some type of guidelines of what to expect. The first DLC was first officially revealed and then released a week later. As such, if Bandai Namco does announceDragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC 2at the Play Anime Live event, then it’s highly likely fans will have it by July 29th. If it’s not there for some reason, then it seems safe to say DBZ: K fans will be much more in the dark than ever before.
Fans should keep an eye on the event, as not only does this event includingDBZ: Kakarotmake sense, but it could spur even more anime-based game announcements. New games could be revealed and even anewDragon Ball Zgamecan’t be ruled out, but at the very least, it’s the safest bet for now of when the reveal will roll around.
