A comprehensive rework of the very core of FromSoftware’s seminal RPG, the mod takes its cues from a variety of sources, not least of which are the classic MMORPG titles likeWorld of Warcraft, which means it pairs particularly well with some other player-made mods.

Naturally, it will take time for FromSoftware to finish and polish up itsShadow of the Erdtreeexpansion pack, but that’s where the game’s substantial community can help.

Developed by Muugiboy, the “Eldenlands” mod forElden Ringis a complete and comprehensive rework of almost every aspect of the base game. Taking inspiration from MMOs, Muugiboy has revamped virtually everything they could get their hands on to present a surprisingly fresh gameplay loop. Players can expect a complete revision of the game’s starting classes, status effects, summoning, and more. However, “Eldenlands” also introduces a series of all-new features, such as the True Damage system, attack reactions, and a new item category, allowing players to equip portions of the Elden Ring itself.
While it’s entirely possible to play Muugiboy’s “Eldenlands” solo, the mod truly comes into its own when paired withElden Ring’s “Seamless Co-Op” mod. Specifically, since the mod represents a complete overhaul ofElden Ringwith MMORPG leanings, adding more friends to a given instance of “Eldenlands” ties the experience together in a way that doesn’t come up while playing solo. Moreover, Muugiboy has confirmed that there are veritable raids coming to “Eldenlands” in the future, meaning that regular, server-based multiplayer will definitely be the way to go in the future.
Naturally, “Eldenlands” doesn’t concern itself with lore, necessarily. Since only FromSoftware will be able to answerbig lore questions aboutElden Ring, Muugiboy is presenting their mod as a standalone offshoot whose primary goal is a total gameplay retrofit. That being said, “Eldenlands” will offer a unique extra feature in the future, putting players into the shoes of Melina herself, whose final boss is the Tarnished player avatar themselves.
It’s virtually impossible to summarize all the changes “Eldenlands” delivers in short order, but the mod is an excellent choice for those who want anew way to playElden Ring.
