Elden Ringis currently locked at 60 FPS on PC, which many players with high-end computers no longer view as acceptable. While someElden Ringplayers on PC are struggling to even achieve this, one fan decided to create a mod to work their way around the framerate cap.
Elden Ringcurrently has mixed reviews on Steamowing mostly to its performance issues. Some PC players with graphics cards like the RTX 3080, have still reportedly been experiencing stuttering, and less than desirable framerates at 1080p. This is rather concerning when one considers that the game’s Steam page recommends users have a GTX 1070 graphics card if they want to run the game smoothly.

While some PC players are struggling to even achieve playable framerates, others were annoyed that the game was capped at 60 FPS. This encouraged one user to create a mod that unlocks the game’s framerate by setting a new custom limit. The mod seems to work with the unmodified Steam version of the game, however, it is not recommended to use the mod when playing online, as this could result in a ban.
OtherPC players seem to have found a way to reduceElden Ring’s performance issues. Some PC players have claimed that if users force the game to run in high performance mode through Windows Graphics settings or switch the power plan to balanced under power plan options that the game will run significantly more smoothly. While this seems to have worked for some users, others are still reporting poor performance and serious stuttering.
PC players are not the only ones experiencing performance issues with the game, asElden Ringreportedly struggles to hit 60 FPS on both PS5 and Xbox Series X. The game has two graphical modes on current-gen consoles, which are performance mode and quality mode. It seems as though both consoles are currently unable to reach 60 FPS consistently regardless of the mode the game is in. Some gamers have, however, reported thatElden Ring’s performance is generally more consistent on console.
Thankfully,Bandai Namco has now addressedElden Ring’s performance issueson all platforms. The company listed and acknowledged the various issues that players seemed to be experiencing and then outlined some fixes that could help players improve performance. Bandai Namco stated that if PC players update their graphics card drivers, they should see a significant improvement in performance. The company also noted that it will continue to prioritize performance issues in future updates as well.
Elden Ringis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
