Indie developer Broken Bear Games and publisher No More Robots are getting set to releaseFamily Manon Nintendo Switch and Xbox consoles. A low-poly RPG loosely inspired byAMC’sBreaking Bad, the upcoming game confronts players with the question of how far they are willing to go for their family.
Originally released on Steam in 2020, Broken Bear and No More Robots announcedFamily Man’s console port in a trailer on Wednesday. Framed as an overly-cheery ad for the fictional town of Riverport,Family Man’s tongue-in-cheek trailer teases a dark story lurking beneath its sunny seaside setting.Xboxand Switch players also don’t have to wait too long before checking it out, withFamily Manlaunching on September 14.

Thesolo-developed indie gamefollows the titular father, who finds himself seriously in debt to the local mob. With only three weeks to pay it back, players will have to make difficult decisions if they want to keep their family safe. Of course, they could try to make the money honestly by flipping burgers or getting an office job. However, with time running out, dirty jobs like making moonshine or other illegal activities might offer a shortcut to save your family.
However, a life of crime also has its consequences, and true tothe spirit ofBreaking Bad, it may mean losing the loved ones the player tried so hard to protect. According to the developer,Family Manfeatures dozens of missions and multiple endings. Players may have to make difficult decisions as they explore the town of Riverport. Each one may have far-reaching consequences for both the player’s family and the entire town.
Family Manis the first game developed by the UK-based solo developer Broken Bear. Meanwhile, publisher No More Robots is best known for indie games like the RPG adventure gamesNot TonightandNot Tonight 2,downhill mountain bike simDescenders, and strategy RPGYes, Your Grace. It also published the clothing-based, retro-style FPSFashion Police Squad, which was released on Steam last month. Other No More Robots games include the indie titlesHypnospace Outlaw,Nowhere Prophet,Let’s Build a Zoo,Heist Simulator, andTombStar.
Family Manenjoys a Mostly Positive rating on Steam, with 78% positive reviews. The PC version retails at $19.99, and the publisher has confirmed that it will have the same price on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Hopefully,Family Mansees the same positive reception on consoles that it received on PC.
