Hogwarts Legacyfans cannot feel too thrilled about the chances of a Quidditch DLC right now withHarry Potter: Quidditch Championscoming in and snatching up all the glory. It is always possible that Quidditch could make its way toHogwarts Legacyin a DLC, sequel, or spin-off of its own, but it would make more sense ifQuidditch Championsspearheaded that front and took on the sport to its fullest potential. It is still unfortunate thatHogwarts Legacydoes not have Quidditch of its own, though, andQuidditch Championsis hopefully empathetic toward that.
In many ways,Quidditch Championstaking it upon itself to fulfill that gameplay need is incredible. Instead of having a half-baked mini-game that is restricted to single-player gameplay,Quidditch Championshas the opportunity to make fans’ wishes come true as an online multiplayer game, which could feel like a properremake ofHarry Potter: Quidditch World Cup. Rather,Quidditch Championscould be as warmly welcoming toHogwarts Legacyplayers as possible in order to feature a smooth transition between the twoHarry Pottergames.

Quidditch Champions Can Find Success in Hogwarts Legacy’s Playerbase
Because fans have desired Quidditch fromHogwarts Legacyfor as long as the game has been announced, it only makes sense that these same fans would be naturally interested inHarry Potter: Quidditch Champions. The multiplayer game’s art style may not be the same asHogwarts Legacy’s, but that is actually inQuidditch Champions’ best interest since it further delineates the two.
However, ifQuidditch Championswants to make the most ofthe fanbase thatHogwarts Legacyhas amassedsince February, it would do well to have as many tie-in rewards or crossovers as possible. The most convenient way thatQuidditch Championscould referenceHogwarts Legacyis by having a collaborative in-game reward pick-up for logging in with the same WB Games account.
A WB Games account is needed anyhow whensigning up forQuidditch Champions’ limited playtestthis month, and it would be terrific if there were exclusive cosmetics offered for fans who have playedHogwarts Legacyavailable inQuidditch Champions; for example,Quidditch Championscould gift players with exclusive Hogwarts house Quidditch gear that reflects the houses they have played as inHogwarts Legacy.
Something small like this would go a long way in showingHogwarts Legacyfans that this multiplayer game is their outlet to play the sport they did not get to play in the unrelated action RPG. But even if both games are unrelated to one another, they still share a common thread in their overarching IP, and that should be celebrated.
TheHarry PotterMax series being announced also makes this a convenient time forHarry Potter: Quidditch Championsto be announced, but only time will tell if it sticks the landing. Indeed,Quidditch Championsbeing a multiplayer game will be contingent on whether fans find it appealing and if it has legs long enough to carry itself with post-launch content well into the future, meaning it will need to be engaging enough for players to stick around for whatever other content it decides to introduce—with the hope being that content is not purely cosmetic-related.
IfQuidditch Championsis as highly anticipated asHogwarts Legacywas, then it will surely need no help in garnering an enormous playerbase of its own. But withHogwarts Legacy’s help, it could be even larger and all-encompassing than the gameever dreamed to be.
Hogwarts Legacyis available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with PS4 and Xbox One versions launching May 5 and a Switch port releasing July 25.
