The original PlayStation was home to many amazing platformer games. One great example isKlonoa: Door to Phantomile. However, despite being acknowledged as one of the best PlayStation games of all time, as well as having spawned a sequel and several spin-offs, theKlonoafranchise has been dormant for quit esome time. That is until Bandai Namco decided to bring it back in the form of a remastered collection titledKlonoa Phantasy Reverie Series, which has just got an official release date for all platforms it will be available on.
Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Serieswas originally announced at the Nintendo Direct showcasethat aired last February. As a collection,Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Seriesincludes the remastered version of bothKlonoa: Door to PhantomileandKlonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil. Like the original games, the remastered collection stars the titular character Klonoa, a cute, lop-eared character that is destined to travel to various dream worlds and save them from peril.

While previouslyKlonoa Phantasy Reverie Serieswas announced to be coming first to Nintendo Switch on July 8th, Bandai Namco has confirmed on Twitter that players on other platforms apparently won’t have to wait at all as the game will be released digitally for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on the same day. The news was brought up on Twitter, and Bandai Namco was also generous enough to outline some new details regarding the game.
Rather than simply modernizing the graphics, Bandai Namco alsoadded some new features and new gameplay elements toKlonoa Phantasy Reverie Series. The remastered collection will feature Easy and Normal difficulties, as well as a Hard mode that unlocks after players have cleared the game. In the easiest difficulty setting, Klonoa’s Wind Bullets can fly farther than they were able to in the original games.
Players who aren’t familiar with the original games orplatformer games in generalcan turn on tutorials inKlonoa Phantasy Reverie Series. There is also a two-player co-op mode in case players need some assistance while adventuring through Phantomile and Lunatea. As for hardcore fans of the original games, they can activate a Stopwatch Mode inKlonoa Phantasy Reverie Seriesif they want a more challenging experience.
Bandai Namco supposedly has learned a lot after being criticized for changing too much in the 2008’sKlonoaremake for the Wii. Hopefully it can stay truer to its roots this time, while also delivering a great 2.5D platforming experience to fans new and old.
