But an Iron Mine will function over a regular source of iron too, so there’s no need to worry if a particular region only has a normal source of iron.

Lack of storage and transport options can cause major bottlenecks for production inManor Lords, so it pays off to keep ahead of any logistical problems.
Build An Iron Mine In Manor Lords
Deciding exactly when to build an Iron Mine inManor Lordscan be a challenge given that there are many pressures on a growing settlement, but once the decision is made, the mine can be built from the construction tab. Iron Mines can be constructed right from the beginning of the game and cost just asingle piece of timberto built. The main issue with building an Iron Mine early on is the labor force, but it can be useful to build an Iron Mine early if other forms of production have good stores. A little bit of extra preparation doesn’t hurt, after all.
The Iron Mine must be placed over the iron deposit on the mine, but it doesn’t have to completely cover it — it can be placed over just one part, which is useful when trying to design an attractive settlement.
Assign Families To The Iron Mine
Before the Iron Mine can actually function, it needs a labor force. Assign a family to work in the Iron Mine, but be mindful of what other resources the settlement may need, as there’s no sense accruing Iron Ore if there’s a famine.
Build A Bloomery
An essential part of the production chain inManor Lordsis the processing of raw materials into construction goods. In the case of Iron Ore,this is done at theBloomery building.Assigned families at the Bloomery will process Iron Ore intoIron Slabs,which can be used for further production or as items for trade.
As with the base Iron Mine, the Bloomery can be constructed using only basic building materials. The Bloomery is constructed using the Industry tab of the Construction tab at the bottom of the screen.
The Bloomery building can be placed anywhere, but it’s always important to consider transport of materials to and from the building to give the best experience.
Assign A Family To The Bloomery
To function, the Bloomery needs workers. Ensuring there are free families for construction and other logistics activities, assign someone to work at the Bloomery when Iron Slab production is desired. This can be done by clicking on the Bloomery building in the game and using the pop-up interface to add or remove workers.
Build A Smithy In Manor Lords
In order to use the processed Iron Ore, which comes in the form ofIron Slabs, players need to build the Smithy building. This comes with all the same considerations as the Bloomery and the Iron Mine itself — it needs to be centrally located and supplied with the labor force to ensure a smooth operation. InManor Lords, logistics is vital to success.
Assign A Family To The Smithy
To function, the Smithy needs an assigned family. Assigned families will continue toproduce Toolsas long as there’s a sufficient supply of Iron Slabs, so it’s important to keep the settlement’s storage and transport systems well supplied with labor and oxen.
Making Weapons: Constructing Burgage Plot Extensions
Iron Ore is used to make weapons inManor Lords, but the Smithy only produces Tools. Players looking tomake weapons inManor Lordsneed to use theBurgage Plot extensions system. The Blacksmith extension is locked behind level 2 Burgage Plots, but is necessary for any players looking to produce their own weapons.
