TheShadow of Mordordeveloper Monolith Productions recently retweeted Rocksteady’s announcement of its upcomingSuicide Squadgame, leading some fans to believe that it might be working on its own DC universe game with plans to make announcements at an upcoming DC event. However, the studio was quick to shoot down the exciting rumors.
A few days ago,Rocksteady Studios officially confirmed to be working on aSuicide Squadgamewith more details to be released soon at the DC FanDome event on August 22. Rocksteady Studios is known for its work with the highly-regardedBatman: Arkhamseries, so fans were excited to see the official announcement and are hoping the developer will be able to bring a better name toSuicide Squadafter the heavily-mixed reviews of the 2016 film.

Following this, Monolith Productions, the studio behind another highly-reviewed game known asMiddle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, announced that it would also be at DC FanDome along with Rocksteady in a retweet of Rocksteady’sSuicide Squadannouncement. The retweet read a simple “See you there!” and fans jumped on the idea that Monolith could be working on aSupermangame, or even possibly collaborating on Rocksteady’sSuicide Squadgame. It raised quite a few eyebrows, with fans asking questions like “what are you working on?” hoping to see more details released at the DC FanDome event.
But when one user asked if Monolith would be attending the online event, the studio replied “Only as fellow fans. Nothing more!” Debunking the idea that it would announce details on an upcoming game. It’s still up in the air, but all this could mean is that it doesn’t plan to address any of its upcoming titles at the event, butthe rumor mill of aSupermangameis still churning strong. Luckily for DC fans, Monolith hasn’t completely rejected the prospect of aSupermangame, meaning it could still be in the works.
The DC FanDome is a virtual hubfor fans to experience their love of the DC universe and share it with others while accessing the entirety of the DC multiverse, from comics and video games to television series and movies. Fans can also expect a series of panels to appear at the online-only event, where it looks like details of the game to be revealed. Earlier this month, James Gunn, a major name in not only DC but Marvel as well, tweeted that he was excited to share a glimpse at the upcomingSuicide Squadgame.
