A new post on Xbox’s official Twitter account shows a trail of glitter, accompanied by some nostalgic music, leading up to a monitor display of the Xbox Games Showcase and seemingly teasingFable’s presence there. As many know,Fableis one of Xbox’s cornerstone IPs and a beloved fantasy RPG, but it hasn’t seen a new game in over a decade. Then, at the Xbox Games Showcase in 2020, Microsoft confirmed anewFablegame was in development at Playground Games. It was announced as a “new beginning” for the franchise, with many believing it is a complete reboot of the franchise. Of course, not much has been heard since this announcement, as Playground Games has been busy working on the title, but it seems fans will learn more at the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase.RELATED:New Fable Game is Reportedly in a Playable StateThe teaser can be seen below, and while it could theoretically be about a different Xbox IP, it’s hard to imagine it actually being anything butFable. The music is pulled straight fromolderFablegames, but the more convincing evidence is the glitter trail. As many may recall, the waypoint system in the classic titles saw protagonists following a trail of glitter, much like what appears in the video. If nothing else, many have been able to connect the dots between this video and Fable, and many would no doubt be let down if the game didn’t show up.
As such, any Fable wants may want to mark their calendar for the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase. It is set to take place on June 11 at 10 am PT/1 pm ET, and it’ll be followed immediately by an in-depth look at Bethesda Game Studios' highly anticipated sci-fi RPG Starfield. If this tease is accurate, that means fans know of at leastthree major Xbox exclusives (alongsideForza Motorsport)that will be present at the show. Starfield will be giving fans a deep dive, but it’s uncertain what Fable could or would show.
However, it’s also important to not give in to the hype and, as with all showcases, temper expectations. It would seem strange to teaseFablefor the Xbox Games Showcase but then pull it, as that would only tarnish what should be a special day for Xbox. However, it has happened before. Back in 2021, Xbox Games Publishing posted a tweet about kicking off something special but needing time to “prepare the chickens,” andit even name-droppedFable Anniversary. However, it would late retract that statement when fans believed news onFablewas coming, and it apparently wasn’t. That shouldn’t happen here, but fans will just have to wait and see what comes of this teaser.
