The officialOne Piece Film: RedTwitter account revealed the new “Battle Wear” character designs for the Straw Hat pirate on Wednesday.Series creatorEiichiro Oda created the new designs himself, which are supposed to resemble a “rock x pirates” type theme.
Another set of Straw Hat character designs were revealed during Shueisha’s Jump Festa ‘22 event in December, featuring the Straw Hat crew in what looks to be more casual designs.

One Piece Film: Redwas first announced in November, commemorating theOne Pieceanime’s 1000th episode release. Oda will serve as a producer and supervisor on the film. As signified by the scar on the film’s logo, Shanks will play a big role in the upcoming feature. The leader of the Red Hair Pirates has not beenprominent in the series narrativefor several years, andFilm: Redlooks to be his big return.
The film will introduce a new female character, and though nothing is known about her yet, her design seems to indicate that she has a connection to the Sky Island Residents. The girl has a mysterious connection to Shanks, and Oda claimed that he conceived the character to serve as a departure from the older male characters featured in the last few films.
The movie will be directed by Goro Taniguchi, and Kuroiwa Tsutomu will return as scriptwriter. Taniguchifirst worked on the seriesas the director for the 1998 OVA,One Piece: Defeat The Pirate Ganzackbut is best known for his work on theGundamfranchise as well asCode Geass. Tsutomu returns to the series after having worked on the screenplay for 2016’sOne Piece Film: Goldand theHeart of Gold TVspecial tie-in.
Eiichiro Oda’sOne Piecedebuted inShueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazinein 1997. The story of Monkey D. Luffy and the rest of his Straw Hat Pirates’ journey to find the eponymousOne Piecehas inspired a variety of related media, including games, films, and an equally long-running anime adaptation.
Viz Media publishes the manga in English, while the anime is streamed on Funimation and Crunchyroll.
