Despite its status as an early access game at the time of writing,Palworldbecame one of the top-selling games on Steam, as itsold over one million copieson Valve’s storefront within the first eight hours of going on sale. While Xbox console and Game Pass figures were not disclosed,Palworldhad a peak of 855,706 players on Steam and a 93% positive rating,according to SteamDB.
As an open-world game in early access,Palworldis not without its quirks, as proven by one player. On Twitter, a user named @s_vevle posted a 34-second clip of a super jump they were able to pull off inPalworld.This trick can be done early on in the game, and in all versions of the game currently available. In their demonstration, @s_vevle fought a sheep-like critter called Lamball, one ofthe earliest Pals players can catch inPalworld. With the Lamball weakened, the OP threw a Pal Sphere at it to catch it. Unlike the Poke Balls used inPokemon, the Pal Spheres are much larger and have collision detection as a game object.
Knowing this, the OP was able to quickly jump up on top of the Pal Sphere as it captured the Lamball by sprinting towards it and grabbing hold. Once the Pal Sphere secured the capture of the Pal, the capture animation hurled the OP’s character sky-high as a result. While falling from such a height would guarantee a quick death, one ofPalworld’s main methods ofnavigating the early game is a gliderthat players can craft with wood and cloth. After showing off a midair dance, the OP was able to pull out their glider and float down safely following the Pal Sphere launch. Whether the team at Pocket Pair patches this “super jump” out ofPalworldor not remains to be seen.
With astounding sales on Steam and asuccessful launch on Xbox Game Pass,Palworldhas quickly become one of 2024’s top-selling games. Only time will tell how Pocket Pair will build upon the sudden momentum.
