Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Dooris a remake of the GameCube classic of the same name. The game follows Mario and his friends as they work together to reach the Thousand-Year Door before anyone else does.
While playing the game, players will come across a moment in which a ghost steals Mario’s name and body. In order to get it back, the player must guess their name. Here’s how to guess their name and get Mario back.
How Mario Loses His Name & Body In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
During the events of chapter 4, Mario will have his name stolen by a ghost. This will cause this ghost to steal Mario’s body, leaving the player playing as a shadowy version of the beloved character. The fake Mario will inform the player that to get his body and name back, Mario must guess his name. However, at that point in time, it is impossible to actually guess the ghost’s name, which is Doopliss.
Doopliss will tell Mario to guess his name, and then he will pull up a keyboard for the player to type it in. Even if players know his name is Doopliss, the lowercase p is missing from the keyboard. This is required to spell out his name, so players won’t be able to do anything without finding that p somewhere in chapter 4.
Where To Find The P & Guess The Ghost’s Name
In order to find the p, players will need to recruit Vivian (one of the best companions). She is located inTwilight Townwith her sisters, looking for the Superbombomb. It turns out she has left it in the nearby grass. Once found, she will help Mario on his quest. After recruiting Vivian, head to the Creepy Steeple and enter the well. Vivian’s Shadow Ability will allow Mario to move through the bars that are blocking the way, letting him access a new area. From there, Mario will find a place where he can Ground Pound through the floor, allowing him to roll under the floor and enter a new room.
This new room is filled with chests and a parrot. The largest chest in the room contains the p, which is exactly what is needed to guess Doopliss' name. If Vivian uses her Shadow Ability, the parrot will say Doopliss’s name (which is how players originally learned his name). Then, Mario can head back to Doopliss and type in his name with a capital D and everything else in lowercase. This will allow Mario to obtain his name back.
