ThePersonaseries is extremely popular in Japan, and it’s gaining quite a bit of popularity in the west, as well. On the heels of that popularity comes the announcement that the spin-offPersona 5Mementos Missionmanga is finally being translated into English and brought to the west.
Unlike the originalPersona 5manga, which is primarily a retelling of the original game’s story,Persona 5 Mementos Missionis a side-story that focuses on the Phantom Thieves' exploration of Mementos and taking down smaller-scale criminals and villains than the bosses who have Palaces in the game.

The news comes way of Degenki Online, which held an interview with the mangaka Rokuro Saito and the series' producer Kazuhisa Wada. According to the translation courtesy of Persona Central, Saito finished off the interview by revealing that “an English version of the project is secretly in the works” and encourages fans overseas to give it a try.
This likely comes as great news to big fans of thePersona 5games, as publisher Yen Press originally announced the manga would get an English release back in 2019. However, the publisher quickly rescinded the announcement, claiming that it was a “mistake.” It’s currently unclear if Yen Press or another publisher will be handling the translation.Viz Mediacurrently has the rights to the mainPersona 5manga.
It’s a good time to be aPersona 5fan in the west. Fans now know that thePersona 5anime is getting an English dub, and the reveal thatPersona 5 Scramblewill get translated just came courtesy of a Koei Tecmo fiscal report. While it’s currently unclear when the game will get released, fans can at least rest easy knowing that it’s now planned, rather than being left up in the air as it was prior to this reveal. For now, the same can be said of thePersona 5 Mementos Missionmanga, as no official release information has been provided outside of this interview blurb.
It remains to be seen ifPersona 5’s story has officially come to an end. Atlus frequently creates a number of spin-offs to its games, withPersona 5having already received the expandedPersona 5 Royalrelease,Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight, and of course,Persona 5 Scramble, theDynasty Warriors-esque sequel. In the meantime, though, fans can look forward to what’s coming from theShin Megami Tenseiuniverse thatPersonaitself spun off of, asSMT 3: Nocturneis receiving a remasterandSMT 5is slated for 2021 on the Nintendo Switch.
