APokemonfan artist got into the Halloween spirit and drew the ghost Pokemon Mimikyu in different disguises for the season, and shared their handiwork on social media with other Pokemon trainers. Known as the Disguise Pokemon, Mimikyu is a Ghost and Fairy Pokemon that debuted inPokemon Sun and Moon. With the signature ability Disguise, Mimikyu can absorb one full hit before the disguise is busted for the remainder of the battle. Even with a busted disguise, Mimikyu’s versatile move pool and special defenses make it an exceptional Pokemon to use in certain circumstances. Due to its popularity withPokemonfans,Mimikyu was added toPokemon Unitein October 2023 as an All-Rounder. Even though Mimikyu’s disguise is heavily inspired by Pikachu, onePokemonfan gave Mimikyu more choices for Halloween.
A Redditor andPokemontrainer named FervorLust posted their drawings of Mimikyu in Halloween outfits on the series' main subreddit for all to see. In each digital drawing, the OP gave Mimikyu disguises based on Ivysaur, Charmeleon, Wartortle, and Raichu, and each costume had some unique Halloween themes to match. In addition, FervorLust changed Mimikyu’s name to match the respective disguise and dubbed each one Ivykyu, Charmelekyu, Warkyu, and Raikyu. The Ivysaur disguise was based on a witch on a broomstick, and the Charmeleon outfitleaned into Mimikyu’s Ghost typingthanks to the white sheet that covered it. The Wartortle costume gave Mimikyu a jack-o-lantern candy bucket to hold, and the Raikyu disguise had a vampire’s cloak, tie, and teeth.
Each costume retained Mimikyu’s eyeholes to see out of and kept the ears and tail of the respective Pokemon that Mimikyu tried to imitate. In addition, the false facial features of Mimikyu’s disguises remained consistent, with squiggly eyes, cheek blush, and mouths to fit each one. In the comments, otherPokemonfans praised the OP for theirfusion art of Mimikyuwith other Kantonian Pokemon. One trainer complimented the Warkyu art in particular and said that the general synergy between Wartortle and Mimikyu just worked for them. FervorLust concurred and said that Warkyu was the first of the four disguises they drew for Mimikyu.
Between art fromPokemonfans andan ongoing Mimikyu giveaway at GameStop, it is clear that the Disguise Pokemon is the Pokemon of choice for the Halloween season. Only time will tell whatPokemonfan artists will continue to create as Halloween approaches.
