A user on Reddit by the name of Macksi has posted their submission to the ‘Change one letter to create a new Pokemon challenge which is circulating on the social platform. The monsters are Kanto water-types, Goldeen and Seaking, and Macksi posted their interpretation of these zombified fish who have been renamed Moldeen and Reaking. From the pictures posted, Moldeen is still recognizable even with subtle changes to its usual orange markings, broken horn, and scar across the face. Reaking, however, has the most shocking change, with a green body, decaying fins, and a vacant eye.
The comments are rife with compliments surrounding Macksi’s interpretation of the first-generation Pokemon as well as suggestions of which creatures to interpret next. One poster has even suggested Pokedex entries for these ghastly creations, noting that they came about owing to pollution in the waters where they are found. The descriptions for the monsters certainly fit in with howGame Freak addresses the subject of death within the Pokemon world, although it would be unlikely the developers would want to take such a dark turn with the happy-go-lucky series by introducing a new zombie-type class of creature.
Instead, Game Freak and the Pokemon Company are working onlinkingPokemon HometoPokemon Scarlet and Violet.
