Pokemon GOhas announced Limited Research Day, which will technically feature two pocket monsters, with two versions of Stunfisk available to players. This is yet anotherPokemon GOannouncement made in April, which has been a particularly busy month for players of Niantic’s game.
One of April’s big news is thatShaymin is finally available inPokemon GOglobally. The Gen 4 Mythical Pokemon can be found in a new free Special Research, in a different form than what players saw inPokemon GOFest 2022. In addition to Shaymin, this year,Pokemon GOplayers are seeing a good variety of creatures being added to the game, including Primal Groudon and Kyogre, and the new Gen 9 Pokemon Gimmighoul and Gholdengo.

Next week, players will seeBounsweet debuting inPokemon GOin the Sustainability Week event, bringing the Pokemon’s full evolution line to the game. Before that, the game will hold Limited Research Day on March 23 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, and technically it will be focused on the Ground/Electric-type Stunfisk, and Galarian Stunfisk, a regional variant introduced inPokemon Sword and Shield. In the event, players will need to spin Photo Discs in PokeStops and receive Limited Field Research tasks. By completing the tasks, players will find either Stunfisk or Galarian Stunfisk, with a bonus that increases the Pokemon’s chances of appearing in shiny form.
Stunfisk and Galarian Stunfisk will be the focus of Limited Research Day, but the event will also increase the spawn rate of wild Sandshrew, Diglett, Gligar, Swinub, Phanpy, Larvitar, Numel, Barboach, Baltoy, Hippopotas, and Drilbur. As usual inPokemon GO, lucky players will be able to find one of these Pokemon in shiny form. Interestingly this is the secondPokemon GOevent in April that features a specific Pokemon - Swinub. This weekPokemon GOannounced another Community Day Classic, which will take place in late April and feature the Gen 2 Pokemon.
New Pokemon are added toPokemon GOfrequently, and Niantic periodically also highlights other creatures that are already available in the game. For casual gamers who don’t follow the game often, these events are good opportunities to come back and test the new features Niantic has added. For the more dedicatedPokemon GOplayers, these events are also positive: they offer the chance to find Pokemon with better statuses, which will be important in the more competitive modes of the game.
Pokemon GOis available on Android and iOS.
