Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers have a new seven-star Tera Raid battle to take part in, as Pikachu the Unrivaled is now available to challenge. The raid will last for 72 hours, February 24 to 27, and is the fourth seven-star raid to come toPokemon Scarlet and Violetsince the games' launch.
Known as the Mouse Pokemon, Pikachu is an Electric-type Pokemon and the longtime mascot of thePokemonseries. It is known most notably as the first companion ofPokemonanime protagonist Ash Ketchum. Pikachu evolves from Pichu via a high friendship level and evolves into Raichu when a Thunder Stone is used on it. Though aPikachu Tera Raid battle may seem underwhelmingfor players that are looking for a challenge on the same level as Cinderace, having a battle dedicated to the series mascot makes timely sense, as Pokemon Day draws near.

Starting at 0:00 UTC on February 24, and ending at 0:00 UTC on February 27, players who challenge Pikachu the Unrivaled will have to contend with a variety of attacks. The Tera-Water Pikachu will use Rain Dance at the start of the battle and will be holding a Light Ball to bolster its attack and special attack stats. With the hidden ability Lightning Rod, all Electric-type attacks will be rendered useless and boost Pikachu the Unrivaled’s special attack, so using a hard-hitting Electric Pokemon such as Miraidon is ill-advised. Its list of attacks includes Thunder, Surf, Play Rough, and Iron Tail, all of which take advantage of Pikachu’s mixed attack stats. Though this raid battle is still fresh,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers have already formeddifferent strategies for taking on Pikachu the Unrivaled.
Some of the morepowerful Grass Pokemon such as Wo-Chien and Meowscaradamay prove useful in the raid. However, Grass and Dark dual-type Pokemon will need to watch out for Play Rough, as Dark-type Pokemon take double damage from Fairy-type attacks. However, with its Ground and Poison dual-type and the Water Absorb ability, Clodsire negates both Thunder and Surf and takes reduced damage from Play Rough. Though it has slow speed, Clodsire is potentially one of the better Pokemon to take down Pikachu the Unrivaled, just as it was against the previousPokemon Scarlet and Violetseven-star raid boss, Greninja the Unrivaled.
Players that succeed in defeating Pikachu the Unrivaled will be rewarded with EXP candies, an Ability Patch, and other items. With just days to go until Pokemon Day, and with the imminent release ofPokemon Scarlet and VioletPatch 1.2.0, players that want to take on this challenge will not have much time to test their skills. Once this event concludes, it remains to be seen which Pokemon will be chosen in the future as the next Tera Raid boss.
