Summary
Shortly after the release of the seven-star Tera raid battle against Hisuian Samurott inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, some clever trainers developed and shared a strategy that would allow a coordinated team to defeat the tough Water Pokemon in just two turns. The strategy made the rounds on social media as otherPokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers began to tackle this latest raid.
Known as the Formidable Pokemon, Samurott is the fully evolved form of Oshawott. Like Decidueye and Typhlosion before it, Samurott received a Hisuian form inPokemon Legends: Arceusand became a Water and Dark dual-type Pokemon in the process. Just before Thanksgiving, The Pokemon Company announced thatHisuian Samurott the Unrivaled would be a seven-star Tera raid bosswith the Tera type of Water. Even though Hisuian Samurott has the hidden ability called Sharpness to increase the power of its Ceaseless Edge, Razor Shell, Sacred Sword, and X-Scissor attacks, the ability was rendered moot thanks to a strategy that disregards it.
On Reddit, a group of users on the r/PokePortal subreddit clubbed together to form a strategy that revolved aroundthe Legendary Pokemon Miraidonand three Pokemon that could use the move Fake Tears in quick succession. This was dubbed the “Micrydon” strategy by thePokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers that contributed to its creation. According to the strategy post, the Fake Tears users would either have the ability called Sturdy or hold the Focus Sash item to survive an attack with one HP. At the same time, Miraidon would use Charge to boost both its special defense and the power of its next Electric-type attack. In the following turn, only Miraidon would take action and use its signature move, Electro Drift, to take down Hisuian Samurott with a single strike.
This is because Fake Tears lowers the target’s special defense by two stages. Given the fact that Hisuian Samurott’s special defense is already its weakest statistic, this further exploits that flaw. Compared to a strategy that was used totake down Hisuian Typhlosion with a Dachsbun, the “Micrydon” strategy involves fewer steps during the battle. But,Pokemon Scarlet and Violettrainers who missed out on taking on Hisuian Samurott will have another chance. The second seven-star Tera raid battle against the Formidable Pokemon starts on Thursday, November 30 at 7:00 p.m. Eastern and ends on Sunday, December 3, at 6:59 p.m. Eastern.
However, coordination is the key forPokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers who want to give this strategy a shot. WithThe Indigo Disk DLC arrivingdays after the Hisuian Samurott raids conclude, it remains to be seen what Tera raidsPokemon Scarlet and Violetwill release afterward.
