The new Prismatic Subclass will bring players the abilities, buffs, and debuffs from every Light and Dark Subclass inDestiny 2, all in one convenient package. This new Subclass is shaping up to be an extremely powerful buildcrafting tool that will likely become the new meta for builds in both endgame PvE and competitive PvP game modes inDestiny 2.
While this subclass will be bringing together some of the best parts of each Subclass,the new Prismatic Subclasswill surprisingly be missing out on one of the most popular builds for Warlocks inDestiny 2. Specifically, the new Prismatic Subclass for Warlocks won’t feature the meta Well of Radiance super, which will be a tough pill to swallow.
Warlock’s Well of Radiance Super in Destiny 2 is Overpowered
When it comes to survivability and DPS in endgame content, the Warlock’s Well of Radiance super generally outperforms any other Subclass as the best super inDestiny 2. Not only does this super heal players inside of it, but it also provides a buff that increases the player’s damage. Then with a high intelligence stat and/or aPhoenix Protocol Exotic armor build for Warlocks, players can significantly reduce their super’s cooldown so that it can have frequent uptime.
The Well of Radiance super is so strong that players have been using it to completesolo flawless Raids inDestiny 2, whereas this challenging endgame content is designed to be played with teams of six players. Although players have been doing insane challenges like this inDestiny 2even without using the Well of Radiance super, this super has recently become one of the most popular builds inDestiny 2, and for good reason. So, the Well of Radiance super not being an option in the new Prismatic Subclass is shocking to see.
While the Well Of Radiance super won’t be included in the Prismatic Subclass when it first launches, more supers and Subclass abilities may or may not be added to the Prismatic Subclass over time.
Warlock’s Well of Radiance Nerfs are a Controversy Waiting to Happen
In a TWID blog post from June 19, 2025,Bungie explicitly acknowledged that the Warlock’s Well of Radiance Super is unbalanced, while also commenting on how the Titan’s Ward Of Dawn support super is in a similar position:
“On a longer timeframe, we’re evaluating [Well of Radiance and Ward Of Dawn’s] place in the sandbox more fundamentally. These two Supers are currently operating in too similar a space, leaving little room for them to breathe on their own. Well of Radiance in particular offers too much, and its effective invulnerability is not something we believe the sandbox can or should continue to support.”
Not only is it a tough pill to swallow that the Well of Radiance super won’t be available in the Prismatic Subclass, but this super receiving a nerf sometime throughout The Final Shape expansion forDestiny 2is also bad news for Warlocks. Whether this super will end up becoming less potent or if it will be completely changed, a Well of Radiance Nerf will likely be acontroversy amongDestiny 2’s communityat first, though it’s seemingly for the best.
However, the good to come out of all of this is that the Prismatic Subclasses will seemingly replace the old meta with some much-needed and fresh competition anyway, such as thenew Light supers coming in The Final Shape expansionfor each of the three character classes. Ultimately,Destiny 2fans, and especially Warlock mains, will have to judge for themselves whether the Well of Radiance super will still be the meta after being nerfed, or if the Prismatic Subclass and other supers will be a worthwhile replacement.
