Since the game’srelease on PC in November 2019, players ofRed Dead Redemption 2on PC have enjoyed quite a bit of exclusive content not available on consoles. That special treatment is about to end.
Rockstar has announced that console players will now also receive access to this additional content. PS4 owners will be able to download it immediately and Xbox One players will need to wait until Jun 20, 2025.

Back in October, Rockstar announced that the single-player story mode ofRed Dead Redemption 2onPC would receive some exclusive contentwhen the game released in November. For the past month, PC players have enjoyed exclusive bounty hunter missions, new gang hideouts, unique treasure maps, and a number of status-enhancing trinkets. Players also received weapons that had previously only been available inRed Dead Online, as well as an M1899 pistol that was specially made for the PC release. Additionally, Rockstar added avariety of new horsesto the story mode, some fromOnlineand others that had not been available at all.
Though not a huge amount of content, these goodies were still worth getting excited about because Rockstar has stated in the past that it hasno plans to release DLC for the single-player campaign. They want to focus solely onRed Dead Online. So when PC players got exclusive access to this new content in November, there was a bit of justified grumbling from those who’d purchased the game on console. In addition to the exclusive content now being made available on console, the previously exclusive photo mode will be added to consoles as well.
A number ofperformance optimizations for PCwere also announced by Rockstar in October. These include uncapped frame rate, 4K and 8K resolution support, ultra-wide and multi-monitor support, increased draw distances, ambient occlusion and better illumination, deeper shadows, improved reflections, and even improved grass and fur textures for more lifelike animals. Unfortunately, due to technical limitations, it’s not likely that these upgrades can be ported to consoles, so in this area at least, PC gamers still have something to feel a little special about.
Red Dead Redemption 2was released in October 2018 on PS4 and Xbox One, and on PC in November 2019.
