However, there are those who aren’t quite as impressed with the game as others.
While the game has been mostly well-received, some fans have criticized the character models inMidnight Suns, whereas others have taken issue with the story and dialogue. Others still have complained about some missing quality of life features inMidnight Suns, particularly the inability to pause cutscenes.

Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier recently took to Twitter, saying, “Midnight Sunsseems pretty cool, but like, it’s almost 2023 and we’re still getting video games where you can’t pause cutscenes???” This prompted a response from Firaxis Franchise Producer Garth DeAngelis, who said, “I mean, we can’t get a little love for making a TRPG with dashes of JRPG,” to which Schreier responded, “I did say it seems pretty cool! But please have some mercy on those of us with small children and patch in a pause cutscene option if you can.” DeAngelis said that this would be a “priority for the future,” but it’s unclear if this means futureMidnight Sunsupdates orFiraxis' future games.
Besides potentially adding quality of life features, futureMidnight Sunsupdates will also bring new content to the game.Midnight Sunshas a season passthat will give players access to four new characters in the form of Deadpool, Morbius, Storm, and Venom. Specific release dates for theMidnight SunsDLC characters are not available at the time of this writing, but they are all expected to drop throughout 2023.
SomeMidnight Sunsfans may be hoping for more substantial story DLC that’s not tied to the new characters, but it’s unclear if that’s in the cards. IfMidnight Suns' positive reviews translate to strong sales, then one has to imagine that could lead to more substantial DLC plans for the game. While they wait for more information on the game’s future, fans can continue playing throughMidnight Sunsstory,interacting with characters at the Abbey, and mastering the game’s tactical combat system.
