Netflix has just dropped the first clues to whereResident Evil: Infinite Darknessmight be heading storywise, with the streaming service providing new images showing Leon and Claire looking even more like their video games counterparts than what waslast seen in the mysterious reveal trailer.
The company is clearly working hard to make the best out of their collaboration with Capcom and is set to produce aResident Evillive action series, but unlike other projects related to the franchise, that show will turn its focus onto Albert Wesker’s children, Jade and Billie, in what certainly looks like intriguing and controversial take for long time fans of the video games.

However, over onResident Evil: Infinite Darkness’side, things are looking much more familiar as this CGI incarnation is now confirmed to be “set in the canon of @CapcomUSA_’s classic survival horror franchise”.
As can be seen from the still images tweeted out by Netflix, as well as the trailer, Leon and Claire look very much like they did in 2019’sResident Evil 2remake, only perhaps a little older. With official confirmation thatResident Evil: Infinite Darknesswill be canon to the world portrayed in the video games, it’s no wonder then that the producers chose this particular art style.
The big question then becomes just how the two will be connected andwhere exactly this story is going to slot inas far as the games’ timeline goes. Despite the similarities, the slightly older look could rule out any possibility forResident Evil: Infinite Darknessto pick up right after the events of theRE2in Raccoon City, so perhaps this puts the series closer toRE4, when Leon was working as government agent, something that would jibe well with his suit attire in the trailer; or maybe even further down the line of RE6, given the longer hairstyle.
Something else to keep in mind, is thatResident Evil: Infinite Darknesswill come out with anaccompanying manga that will serve as a tie-into the show’s plot, so there’s also that to keep an eye on. Whatever the case, if the production team is happy to channel theRE2remake look, then be prepared to encounter plenty of plant zombies, lickers and, hopefully, maybe even some appearances by everyone’s favorite hulking tyrant Mr. X, making his way over to those lonely looking houses in the trailer.
Resident Evil: Infinite Darknessis scheduled for release in 2021.
