ThePlayStation 5launches this holiday season, but as of May 2020 thePS5’s launch line-up remains a complete mystery. Anxious PS5 fans know that Sony’s plans will have to be revealed soon, but waiting while the Xbox team shares Xbox Series X news week-to-week is certain to be frustrating. That wait may be ending, however. A new report hints that Sony is preparing a PS5 State of Play event for June, and during that event, Sony might reveal its “entire slate of games.”

The news comes from Venture Beat reporter Jeff Grubb. Grubb recently posted a schedule for “Jeff Grubb’s Summer Game Mess” featuring events including the recent Inside Xbox show and theUnreal Engine 5 announcement. He also wrote down a “Slate of PlayStation” event for June 4, assumed to be the unannounced Sony PS5 State of Play reveal event.

Another Twitter user replied to Grubb’s schedule, saying that “Slate of PlayStation” didn’t sound promising. The user admitted that their English wasn’t the best and admitted that they thought “slate” implied a single game. Grubb corrected the Twitter user, saying that the listed event’s name implied, “an entire slate of games. A lot.” The unveiling of thePS5’s launch line-upcould be less than a month away.

While Grubb doesn’t explicitly state that the PS5’s full launch line-up will be revealed at the event, it seems implied. Sony’s entire slate of games wouldn’t be complete if it left any upcoming games out. Needless to say, it should be more than enough games to satePlayStation fans' needs.

It’s also worth considering that Grubb could be joking or teasing his Twitter followers, too, as Sony has not officially announced its nextState of Play event. Grubb could be making the date up as a joke or he may have heard misleading information. He could be right, of course, but it’s worth taking his leak with a grain of salt.

If Grubb’s report is true, it’s interesting to consider Sony and Xbox’s different strategies. Xbox is planning at least three events in May, June, and July with news spread throughout. Sony has saved all of its news regarding the PS5 for what seems like it will be one single event. Xbox is definitely taking over the media for a larger window, but if Sony’s one event blows everything out of the water then that’s all that matters. This mid-COVID-19all-digital summer before the next-gen launch is certainly an interesting affair.
