Where To Find Matador In Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance

To find Matador, players will first need to begin the Return of the True Demon quest. This quest is unlockedafter players complete the main quest, The Angels' Request, and gain access to the Tokyo Diet Building. After completing this main quest, head to the World of Shadows and Sophia will give you the Menorah, and will only tell you it attracts the avatars of death.

Once the Return of the True Demon quest begins, head to the nearest Leyline Fount andtravel to the first Fount in the Netherworld, Tamachi. Right next to the Leyline Fount will be a large purple beam of energy emitting from the ground, interact with it to begin the battle with Matador.

Matador is just as difficult this time around, with a heavy focus on Agility and buffing it. He has a signature support ability calledRed Capote, which increases his accuracy and evasion by two ranks in a single turn. It’s useless to try and fully counter this, as Matador will always recast the buff whenever its effects are fully lost. That being said, using Sukunda once to lower his bonuses, only one rank will even the playing field slightly without always triggering him to recast the buff.

Bringing a demon that blocks Force, such as Fortuna, is recommended as Mazan hits the whole party, andone demon blocking it will end Matador’s turn. TheSandman Essence is a great option for the Nahobinoas it at least resists Force and will keep you from taking too much damage. Players should also aim to buff their own accuracy and evasion to match Matador’s, as he won’t be able to cancel out your party’s buffs and it will nullify his own.

Whenever he uses Charge, prioritize maxing your defensive buffs as the next attack will very likely one-shot unprepared demonswith a powerful physical attack. His weakness is Electric abilities, which are plentiful on demons even earlier in the game. That being said, players shouldprioritize fusing demonsthat block or resist Force over focusing on hitting his weakness.
