Reddit user Bmpin884187 posted a series of screenshots that detailed their creepy discovery. While exploring outer space inStarfield, the user stumbled upon a derelict spaceship called Clemens' Truth. Upon entering the ship, they found dead bodies spread around its interior, with boxes of poisonous orange juice sitting on a table. A note left behind by one of the deceased occupants explained that the group was a cult, and had committed mass suicide while flying in the trail of the Clemens Comet, in hopes of becoming one with the “great celestial body.” This encounter seems to be referencing two infamous cults, theHeaven’s Gate cult, which committed a similar act as the Hale-Bopp comet passed by Earth, and the Peoples Temple cult, which used a Kool-Aid knockoff to administer poison to its believers.
While the scenario is rather dark, commenting fans were impressed by another display ofStarfield’s level of detail. Bethesda does not shy away from implementing creepy encounters in their games, like when anotherStarfieldplayer discovered a massive boneyard on Mars, with human skulls embedded in rocks. These chance discoveries only help to immerse users even deeper intoStarfield’s rich universe.
