WhileSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice Leaguehas faced a lot of controversy, the one that seems to have the most back-and-forth is its story. Coming in at just around 10 hours in length,Suicide Squadoffers a fairly short DC story, but maybe a compelling one depending on who’s asked. From major character deaths to the introduction of the multiverse,Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguepacks a lot into its short runtime, and its ending might leave some fans wanting more.

After a bizarrely out-of-place tutorial sequence,Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueproperly opens with the not-yet-formed team still incarcerated at Arkham Asylum. After a brief tussle that sees the team inject one another with Waller’s nanite bombs, they’re incapacitated and thrown on a train to Metropolis.

Once in Metropolis, the team realizes they’re in way over their head, as an alien named Brainiac has invaded the city with his horde of Terminauts, organisms capable of turning humans into violent, brainwashed monsters. Task Force X soon learns that most of the Justice League has also succumbed to Brainiac’s brainwashing, withWonder Woman and The Flashbeing the only two who managed to escape.

This doesn’t last too long, however, as The Flash is beaten by Green Lantern andcaptured by Batman, both of whom are working for Brainiac. With The Flash now on their side, the turned Justice League seem invincible, though with the help of some of DC’s lesser-known villains like Toyman, Gizmo, and Hack, along with Lex Luthor, the Suicide Squad is able to fashion devices and weapons that allow them to take down the Justice League one at a time. The Flash is the first to fall, then Green Lantern, then Batman, and finally, Superman, the latter of whom killed Wonder Woman just a few hours earlier.

As the Suicide Squad is standing overthe corpse of Superman, Brainiac appears in person for the very first time, freezing them in place. After delivering a lengthy monologue about how he plans to brainwash the Squad, Brainiac disappears, and the Squad is unfrozen. Task Force X heads back to Amanda Waller, headquartered in the Hall of Justice, where she tells them that they’ve discovered that a total of 13 Brainiacs are currently trying to take over Earth across the multiverse.

In thefinal story mission ofSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, players face off against Brainiac, who’s used The Flash’s DNA to gain access to the Speed Force. Despite this, Task Force X is able to take Brainiac down pretty easily, capturing him in one of Toyman’s shrinking prison balls. The Squad take Brainiac back to Amanda Waller, where she stabs him in the head with a data spike, giving the team access to Brainiac’s neural network.Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueends with the Squad saving this Earth’s Metropolis, but being tasked with taking down the remaining 12 Brainiacs across the multiverse, setting up the game’s future live-service seasons.
