According to Twitter user OatmealDome, the game has leaked onto the Internet. While the original game is nearly 30 years old and the story is likely to be the same between the two, there is some new content that Nintendo has teased that some fans would prefer not to be spoiled. As such,fans ofSuper Mario RPGshould be wary of social media until the game’s November 17th release.
The leaked version of the game likely came from players who have managed to get a hold ofearly copies ofSuper Mario RPG, most likely from retailers that broke the game’s street date. As a result, the ROM of the game was leaked onto the Internet, allowing PCs that can run Nintendo Switch emulators to play it early. From this leak, OatmealDrome was able to determine that the game was running on a version of the Unity Engine, find the game’s internal codename, and even the name of the developer that assisted with the remake. They advise fans to implement measures, like blocking or muting certain accounts, to avoid spoilers if they want to go into the game blind.
This is one of many Nintendo Switch games that have gotten leaked this year, and it likely won’t be the last either, as PC emulation and broken street dates are a common problem among Nintendo releases.
