Summary
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2fans who have been desperate for more serious military looks have a new Operator design to appreciate. Unfortunately, thisCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2character is player-made, though it does certainly add fuel to the fire for those demanding Mil-Sim outfits.
With each modernCall of Dutygame, a clear pattern can be seen when it comes to cosmetics. At launch, the developers lean into the serious military aesthetic, much to the delight of gamers who wantCall of Dutyto be a serious shooter. However, as time goes on, the skins get more and more ridiculous.Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is a perfect example of this, as the most unrealistic the launch day looks got was some Ghost-like skull masks forTask Force 141. Now, players can become actual cats, anime girls, and Snoop Dogg.

While not all crossovers are controversial with the community, as theLara CroftCall of Dutydesignhas been almost unanimously praised and fits well within the FPS, there are certainly two camps when it comes to cosmetics. Some players love whenCall of Dutygets ridiculous with vibrant outfits, while others are down on anything that can be deemed unrealistic and cling to more grounded character designs instead. Those who find themselves in the latter camp will appreciate the Operator design from Reddit user RainbowSix_Glaz, as it embraces the military look that post-launchCall of Dutycosmetics typically stray from.
RainbowSix_Glaz’ design uses theCall of Duty: Vanguardcampaigncharacter and Operator Wade as a blueprint, with a few different variations of the skin provided. The default skin looks a lot like the nameless soldier from the originalCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, who was seen walking through a desert on the game’s cover art. He dons a pair of sunglasses and a balcava, with a faceless variant also depicted. With night vision goggles being so integral toModern Warfare, a pair are included on the final version of the design.
Alongside 371 upvotes, there are dozens of positive comments about the edit. Several players are “crushed” that the artist’s creation is not a realCall of DutyOperator, while others feel that it is better than any official skins from the in-game store. Ultimately, the love for this fan art and the disappointment that this bundle is not actually real are things that Activision, Infinity Ward, and otherCall of Dutydevelopers should make note of. Clearly, there is interest in more realistic cosmetics being added to the in-game store after release.
Perhaps the upcomingCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3will provide players with some more grounded attires for their Operators. After all, the game is embracingthe originalModern Warfare 2’s maps, so a range of traditional soldier designs like the 2009 release had would certainly be appropriate.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
