Summary
With 2023 drawing to a close, Blizzard revealed its plans forWorld of Warcraftin 2024 with two roadmaps for both the classic and retail versions of the game. Both roadmaps showedWorld of Warcraftplayers when to expect the next major updates toDragonflightandThe War Within,and confirmed thatSeason of DiscoveryandClassic Hardcorewould continue alongsideCataclysm Classic.
The roadmap for 2024 followed in the footsteps ofthe 2023 roadmap forWorld of Warcraft. With features such as the Trading Post, more heritage armor quests, and two more seasons of raids and mythic dungeons, the 2023 roadmap gaveWoWplayers some expectations for the year that followed. Suffice it to say, Blizzard has kept to that roadmap, and chose to bring back the format for the game’s 20th anniversary.
2024 will offer content right from the start for bothDragonflightandWrath of the Lich King Classic. Though Wrath Classic will launch the Ruby Sanctum raid in January, Blizzard also confirmed thatDragonflight’sSeeds of Renewal updatewould launch in January as well. In addition, Patch 10.2.6 was scheduled to launch in late winter, with an ominous pirate flag indicating its place on the roadmap. The timetable stated thatDragonflightSeason 4 and Patch 10.2.7 would happen in the spring of 2024. Patch 10.2.7, titled “Dark Heart”, will be the last content patch forDragonflight, and will feature a new holiday event and heritage armor quests for Draenei and Troll players to unlock.
World of Warcraft 2024 Roadmap (Subject to Change)
The Dark Heart patch will also feature Harbinger quests to tie in withThe War Within, and an event called “Timerunning: Pandamonium” will giveWorld of Warcraftplayers something different to take part in. Blizzard confirmed a summer to autumn window forThe War Withinpre-patch and expansion launch. The roadmap also indicated that the alpha and beta tests forThe War Withinwould happen in early and late spring respectively, which will give players sometime to test Hero Talentsand provide feedback to Blizzard in the process.
The roadmap revealedClassic Hardcore’s self-found mode was scheduled for a spring release window, andSeason of Discoverywill continue receiving new contentincluding raised level caps and new runes. WithCataclysm Classicexpected to launch in early summer, a busy year lies ahead forWorld of Warcraftplayers of all kinds.
