As this is based on The War Within Beta, details and specifics may change during the beta and at launch.

What is Story Difficulty in The War Within Raids?

Story Difficulty is a new raid difficulty option designed for players who want to experience the big story moments often found in raids but without the pressure or hassle of playing in large groups.

The mode is currently planned to release alongside the final wing of the Looking For Raid difficulty of The War Within’s first raid, Nerub-ar Palace, and is intended to be a one-and-done experience for story purposes, but can be replayed. It is currently unknown if this will drop loot and at what level it will do.

Details on Story Mode Difficulty

The new story mode will have a few differences between the usual raid experience, namely in the complexity and amount of content players will have to do.

For starters, the mode is limited to the raid’s final boss, Queen Ansurek, so players will only have to fight 1 boss rather than all 8 found in the raid. Additionally, this fight is scaled back in terms of difficulty and complexity, with a focus on the narrative elements of the encounter. This means the fight will be less demanding with fewer mechanics players need to worry about. The mode is also intended for 1-5 players, meaning far fewer players are needed in this version of the fight. However, players who want to complete it solo can choose to.

This mode is currently planned for the Nerub-ar Palace raid but could become a staple for the expansion and the rest of the Worldsoul Saga and theMidnightandThe Last Titanexpansions. There are also no plans to introduce this mode in older raids yet.

This follows on from the introduction of Follower Dungeons, which allows players to take on dungeons inDragonflightwith NPC players for those interested more in story and relaxed dungeons than pushing Mythic+.
