Zack Snyder is certainly a director of monochromatic sensibilities and he has always had a particular fondness for black and white as an aesthetic, often showcasing his work without color in various teaser images. During the hype cycle forZack Snyder’s Justice League, the director often remarked that he was a big fan of a black and white cut of the film, teasing a second release of the film which has been trending under the nameJustice is Gray.

Recently, a Twitch streamer by the name MANvsGame hosted a charity live stream in order to raise money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Snyder has also been heavily involved in the organization’s fundraising efforts and made a guest appearance on this stream, in particular, along withSnyder Cut actor Joe Manganiello.

As a special treat for those who tuned in, the team unveiled a sneak preview of theJustice is Grayversion ofJustice League, showcasing one scene for the new version of the film. The scene shown off features Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne and Jeremy Irons' Alfred discussing their plan to resurrect Superman using the Motherboxes, and will no doubt be familiar for those who recently watched the Snyder Cut on HBO Max.

While this scene, in particular, is still seen in the current version ofZack Snyder’s Justice League, reports have gone around suggesting that theJustice is Graycut of the film may have alternate scenes, including a different version ofthe confrontation between Batman and Jared Leto’s Joker. This has not been directly confirmed, but the Snyder Cut Twitter account has announced that the black and white version of the film will hit HBO Max “soon.”

It’s certainly been a wild ride for fans of the DC film universe. From the theatrical cut ofJustice League’s dismal reception all the way tothe release ofZack Snyder’s Justice League, no one can say that the fans haven’t been invested in Snyder’s vision for the superhero team-up. Now with one, presumably final, version of the film headed for streaming, the book seems set to close for good on Snyder’s DC universe.

Whatever happens, hopefully, theJustice is Graycut is warmly received, and fans get all they asked for and more out of the whole release. If anything is for certain, it’s that Snyder has certainly realized his vision, right down to the color-grading.
