Although the concept of Link having his own house was first explored inThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it wasn’t untilTears of the Kingdomwhere fans could truly customize their dream home. In order forLink to build a house inTears of the Kingdom, players must first complete the side quest “Mattison’s Independence” in Tarrey Town. Once this Side Quest is completed, Link can then purchase a plot of land from Rhondson for 1,500 rupees. From there, players can purchase different-shaped rooms, including some that allow Link to store his weapons, bows, and shields. It’s also worth noting that the limit for Link’s house is 15 rooms, so it can only be so big.

Usually,Link’s house remains firmly on the ground inTears of the Kingdom, but Reddit user Symbol_1 had other plans. In the posted video, Link fires his bow at some Zonai devices on top of his circle-shaped home, and it immediately launches in the air and floats. Link turns to Granteson, the Hudson Construciton attendant, and calls for an inspection. Granteson quickly approves, despite the fact that there’s no house on the land. The clip then cuts to Link flying down and landing on the middle triangle room before swinging around to showcase the nine attached storage areas.
The way this trick works is thanks to two mainZonai devices that can be found inTears of the Kingdom: Zonai Rockets and Zonai Hover Stones. One of the rooms on top of the house is used as a hook, and when Link shoots the rockets, it forces the hover stones to get stuck at the top of the hook. Thanks to the physics of the game, those hover stones have just the right amount of momentum to lift the entire house into the air. And yes, after talking to Granteson, the house does remain in the air as long as the player doesn’t activate building mode again.
In the post, Symbol_1 credited another Reddit user named fghhjjjiiioooop for inspiring this design, as they were the first person tofloat their house inTears of the Kingdom. For players who wish to create their own floating UFO-shaped home, they should stock up on Zonai Rockets, Zonai Hover Stones and then get building.
